AIZAWL: Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles found 18 soap cases (236 grams) of heroin valued at Rs 1.18 crore in Aizawl as part of a significant drug bust with the help of the Excise and Narcotics Department.

Based on the information that it was believed drugs were being transported via General Area Falkland, World Bank Road in Aizawl, the seizure was made on December 5.

The vehicles used to carry the narcotics were also seized by the police. In this case, four people were taken into custody. The individuals who were arrested have been the subject of a police investigation, which is ongoing.

On November 11, 2022, the Mizoram police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained two people in Aizawl and confiscated a sizable amount of the recreational drug methamphetamine, valued at Rs 58 crore.

According to police, a squad from CID (SB) seized 2 lakh methamphetamine tablets, totaling 19.223 kg, from a vehicle in the Luangmual neighborhood of Aizawl after acting on a specific intelligence tip from a sister agency.

The substance, with an estimated market value of Rs 58 crore, was taken from a four-wheeler in the Luangmual neighborhood of Aizawl, and two people were detained.

On November 22, 2022, Aizawl police at the Zonuam outpost got trustworthy reports of illegal substances being hidden by unidentified people on the side of the road along the MZU (Mizoram University) road.

In response to the information, a police team and two lay witnesses sped to the scene and immediately began a thorough search of the area on the evening of November 21.

During this search, they discovered a large sack with 22 black polythene parcels concealed in the bushes.

The 22 black polythene packages were discovered concealed around 12 meters off the main road. A total of 215 soap cases of heroin, totaling 2.76 kg, were discovered after the parcels' contents were examined.

The recovered and seized illegal drugs are thought to be worth a total of Rs 13.8 crore on the international market.
