AIZAWL: Mizoram Governor Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh hosted a belated celebration marking the foundation day of Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura on Wednesday at the Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan, Aizawl. The event falls under the ambit of the Union government's 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' initiative that focuses on national integration. The foundation day falls on January 21, but this celebration had to be postponed for other commitments.

In his address, Governor Singh extended all greetings and reiterated how such events are required for the promotion of unity in the nation. He even went on to point out strategic significance because of proximity to politically sensitive areas, although peace and stability will prove to be the prerequisite for sustained development.

The governor reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of achieving a 'Vikshit Bharat' by 2047 and encouraged even stronger cultural exchanges between states to enhance national integration. The governor also challenged the students to think much more broadly and take an active role in building their country's future.

The event also had speeches from the three states' representatives: Rebecca Angom from Pachhunga University College (Manipur), Premika Blah from SBI (Meghalaya), and Achinta Badya from Mizoram University (Tripura). The event was further marked by the presentation of the students at the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences, Aizawl, performing traditional dances to exhibit the rich cultural heritage of the region.
