Mizoram Polls: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Accuses Congress of Neglecting NE

AIZAWL: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a scathing critique of the Congress party on October 31, alleging that the party had neglected the Northeastern region throughout its six decades of rule. He emphasized the simplicity of the people in the Northeast, contending that they had been misled in the past.

However, he asserted that the region's populace is now more discerning and should question Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party regarding the lack of protection, the extensive neglect, and the infringement of their rights during the Congress's tenure.

Speaking to reporters about the BJP manifesto, which was unveiled ahead of the upcoming Mizoram Assembly elections, Rijiju applauded the policies set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He underlined that only under the BJP's stewardship could the northeastern region witness prosperity and align with the progress of the rest of the country.

On the same note, Union Minister Rijiju further elaborated on the comprehensive vision laid out in the BJP's manifesto, stating, "Our document has clearly outlined our commitment to transforming the lives of the Mizo people. This transformation encompasses essential aspects such as access to clean drinking water for every household, reliable electricity supply, well-constructed roads in villages, highways, airports, railways, skill development, healthcare facilities, and educational resources."

He further highlighted that a wide array of beneficial programs, including the Kisan Samman Yojana for farmers and skill training initiatives for youths, have been implemented under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. Rijiju emphasized the crucial role of the BJP in Mizoram's government, affirming that their presence is essential for the successful execution of these policies.

The state of Mizoram is all set to hold elections on November 7, and Rijiju's remarks underscore the significance of these elections in determining the future trajectory of the region.
