Mizoram registers another Coronavirus case, total cases now 142

Guwahati: With the detection of another Coronavirus case in Mizoram, the total in the Northeastern state has now risen up to 142. As many as 133 cases are active in the state, as 9 patients have been discharged already.

According to the Mizoram Government's figures, Lunglei -- with 46 cases -- is the worst-affected district. The district of Aizawl has also reported 30 Covid-19 cases, out of which 3 patients have recovered. Mamit district has reported 18 cases of the virus.

Out of the 142 cases reported in the state, 67 are males and 75 are females.

Mizoram, meanwhile, is nearing the end of a 14-day total lockdown that saw the state re-impose stringent measures to keep the number of virus cases in check. This new phase of lockdown in the Northeast Indian state has seen the period of institutional quarantine increased to 21 days.

It needs mention here that India has over 4.25 lakh coronavirus cases, recording the biggest single-day jump of 445 deaths.

The rise in cases has taken the country's tally to 4,25,282 while the death count rose to 13,699, according to the Union Health Ministry data this morning.

14,821 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours. However, there has been a steady improvement in the recovery rate with 55.77 percent of the Covid-19 patients having recovered so far.
