Mizoram: Suicide Bomber Ex-Husband Kills Woman In Open Market

The blast which instantly killed the woman took place near the Hmar People's Convention (HPC) Office in Lunglei on Tuesday.

Aizawl: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed by her suicide-bomber ex-husband in an open market in the Lunglei district of Mizoram.

The woman named Pi Lalthianghlimi, who was 61 years of age, was killed by her ex-husband in a suicide bomb attack while she was selling vegetables in her designated vegetable stall.

The incident took place at Chanmari Veng, near the Hmar People's Convention (HPC) Office on Tuesday at around 12:15 pm.

According to the claims made by the victim's daughter, the ex-husband, Pu Rohmingliana, had visited the shop in the afternoon. He asked Lalthianghlimi for a local cigarette which his ex-wife prepared.

Rohmingliana allegedly pretended to feel unwell and leaned on his ex-wife when the bomb suddenly went off killing Lalthianghlimi instantly.

The whole development was witnessed by the couple's daughter who runs a small stall right next to her mother's.

The daughter also informed that the couple had been divorced for more than a month.

Pu Rohmingliana was immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital but he too succumbed to his injuries at 1:30 pm.

In other news, about 259 gm heroin was recovered by the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles which falls under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) in general area Tyaokawn in Mizoram on Sunday.
