Aizawl: Mizoram’s Tourism Department has bagged the Emerging Eco & Nature Retreat Award at the 10th International Tourism Conclave & Travel Awards (ITCTA) held at Le Meridien, New Delhi.

R. Lalrodingi, Director of Tourism, received the award on behalf of the state. The recognition showcases Mizoram’s growing reputation as a nature-friendly and sustainable travel destination.

Known for its green hills, rich biodiversity, and clean environment, Mizoram is increasingly drawing tourists who prefer offbeat and eco-conscious experiences. The award acknowledges the state’s efforts in promoting green tourism, responsible travel, and the preservation of natural heritage.

The ITCTA is a yearly event that celebrates achievements in India’s travel and tourism sector. It brings together professionals from across the country to highlight success stories in tourism promotion.

Mizoram’s Tourism Department, formed in 1987, has played a key role in improving the state’s tourism potential. Over the years, it has focused on building infrastructure, supporting rural tourism, organizing festivals, and training local people for tourism jobs.

The department’s vision is to develop tourism in a sustainable and integrated way, making Mizoram a popular national and international destination.

Officials said that this national recognition will further encourage the state to continue its eco-tourism journey while boosting economic growth and community involvement.
