2nd Nagaland Film Festival gets underway in Kohima

KOHIMA: Filmmakers of the north-eastern states are set to celebrate the 2nd Nagaland Film Festival under the theme, “Celebrating films from North-East India” at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima on Thursday.

The two-day film festival got underway on 31st October under the aegis of Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Nagaland, in association with Film Association of Nagaland (FAN).

Advisor IPR Toshi Wungtung was the special guest, and addressing the crowd, he said that the film industry would help the Northeast states to connect with the mainland as well as the outside world.

Head- FFO, NFDC, Ministry of I&B Government of Indi, Vikramjit Roy, assured that the Ministry will look after the growth of Nagaland film industry and that he also feels that Nagaland should have a film cell and film policy.

As many as 28 films have entered the competition category, and another 28 have entered the non-competition category.

Kivini Shohe, President of Film Association Nagaland (FAN), said that the main motive behind FAN is to upgrade the skills of the filmmakers and bring a consciousness of cinema among the people.

Apart from screening films, the festival also encompassed master class, panel discussion, and awards.

Today, the films that will be screened includes, “Ima Sabitri” (Documentary)- Manipur, “Protyush” (Drama)- Assam, “Achoubi In Love” ( Documentary)- Manipur, “The Lost Art Of Artisanal Textiles” ( Document0ary)- Nagaland, “Village Rockstars” (Fiction)- Assam, “This Road I Know” (Documentary)- Manipur, “Bairabi- Zophai: Where We Bled For Our Land” (Documentary)- Mizoram, “Mistake” (Drama)- Assam and “Dhokbu” (Action Adventure)- Sikkim.

The closing ceremony will reportedly be held at 4:30 PM, which will be attended by Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy.
