KOHIMA: On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of National Cadet Corps (NCC) on Sunday, coinciding with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, NCC Group HQ in Nagaland celebrated the day with a number of activities wherein 25 Nagaland Battalion NCC, Mokokchung, 1 Nagaland Girls NCC Batallion, Kohima, 24 (Independent) Naga Boys company, Kohima and 1 Nagaland NCC Air Squadron, Dimapur organized Blood Donation Camps at respective locations along with the district hospitals and cultural events.

A large number of officials and cadets donated blood during the event, informed press release.

NCC being the largest youth organization in the country, it is engaged in various social initiatives like blood donation, Puneet Sagar Abhiyan (cleaning up of water bodies), environmental awareness and Covid awareness.

The Blood Donation Camp wase conducted successfully at Naga Hospital, Kohima and District Hospital, Dimapur. The camp was conducted in coordination with District Hospital, Dimapur and Naga Hospital, Kohima. A total of one officer, one ANO, six PI staff and 32 cadets of both the NCC units donated blood at both the sites. The hospital administration of both hospitals have conveyed their appreciation to NCC Group HQ Kohima and requested the public to carry out blood donations to save precious lives.

As per an update from NCC Group HQ Kohima, the event was organized to mark the 74th Raising day of National Cadet Corps. NCC is the world's largest uniformed youth organisation and takes active part in nation building and its main aims are developing character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens of the country.

NCC Group Headquarters Kohima, under the leadership of Brigadier Praveen Singh Sangwan, has undertaken various social service and community development events in Nagaland till date. The Group Commander sent best wishes to all the NCC cadets and instructed them to keep working for the welfare of the society and nation.

The event in Mokokchung was presided over by Molo, the president of Mokokchung District Voluntary Blood Donors Association and the arrangements were made by the medical team headed by Dr HT Sangtam of District Hospital, Mokokchung who also distributed the certificates and Blood Donor Badges to the donors. The camp followed by a colourful event. The cadets of Senior Division, Senior Wing, Junior Division and Junior Wing of NCC from Fazl Ali College and Dilong High School, Mokokchung participated in the event.

The event started with the NCC group song which was sung by all attendees with patriotic fervour. During his address, the Commanding Officer explained the genesis of NCC which is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world. The commendable achievements of NCC in war as well as peacetime as a volunteer youth organization were highlighted by the officer.

During the event, the cadets were informed of the various employment opportunities that are available for NCC 'C' Certificate holders especially in the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary and CAPF including the latest 'Agnipath' scheme and the Combined Defence Services Exam. The cadets expressed their gratitude to the PI Staff for imparting specialized training, including Rifle Shooting, Map Reading and Field Craft. They were also quite enthusiastic about attending the upcoming Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC -109) scheduled to be held from December 15 to December 22 next at the Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung.

NCC day is celebrated all over the country on the fourth Sunday of November every year and this camp has been organized to mark the event.

The function concluded with singing of the National Anthem.
