Nagaland Govt launched Kohima Police Traffic Sentinel Scheme & Cash rewards

Kohima: Nagaland Director-General, T John Longkumer on Tuesday launched Kohima Police Traffic Sentinel Scheme (KPTSS) at the traffic control room In Nagaland.

Citizens can now enroll as 'Traffic Sentinel' and report congestion violations/offenses through WhatsApp and get cash rewards (Rs. 1000/-). And for that citizens must first register for the same via WhatsApp by submitting information such as name, mobile number, and email address. The WhatsApp number for the registration is +91 – 9863275596. The Kohima Police Traffic scheme is part of community policing, empowering the public to participate in congestion management.

Kohima Police have made it so easy and simple for the people that a congestion violation can now be reported to the police via WhatsApp with a clear picture or video with a clear view of the default registration vehicle number, time, date, location, and type of violation and each traffic infringement record is entitled to receive reward points based on a chart issued by the Kohima Police.

After hitting the Reward Point 100, the user would get a cash reward of Rs. 1000.

To receive traffic violations complaints from people a traffic Sentinel Control Unit has been set up. On receipt of any report of traffic violations via WhatsApp video/photo, the control room will check the report and notify the concerned OC North/South control to dispatch enforcement team to reported spots.

The new traffic control room at Kohima has made the task easy to monitor and manage vehicular congestion in Kohima. To Identify traffic-congested areas in real-time with the help of Google map, a Live feed from CCTV cameras has been centralized at the traffic control room, and to track traffic flow and identify traffic offense, a drone would be used.

The technical support unit will also have live traffic alerts through 103 MHz FM Tragopan AIR as well as through the official Facebook and Twitter page of the Kohima Police.
