Minor sexually assaulted in Dimapur on December 5

DIMAPUR: A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on December 5 in Dimapur, Nagaland. The accused has been identified as 33-year-old Bokato Achumi, a resident of Padampukhuri in Dimapur. According to the PRO and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur police, Relo Aye, the incident took place near Khermahal, Dimapur when the victim was on her way home after shopping. The accused offered her a lift in his autorickshaw after which she was taken to a hotel and allegedly sexually assaulted. However, the victim managed to inform her family members and in this regard, a case has been registered in a all women police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, after which the accused has been arrested by the police. Further information is awaited. Earlier this year in August a 43-year-old Naga man in Dimapur had allegedly raped a minor girl who was working as a domestic help in his house since 2017.

The incident came to light after she informed her sister regarding the ordeals she was facing. Later her parents had lodged an FIR at the all women police station in Dimapur and a case was registered under section 354 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 6 of the POSCOAct. (Agencies)
