KOHIMA: Reiterating its demand for a peaceful negotiation, the NSCM-IM (National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Issak Muivah) has asked the Government of India to be ''more positive and sincere'' in finding a solution to the Indo-Naga political issue.

In a statement issued by the NSCN-IM, it has appealed to the Central Government to resolve the decades-old issue in line with the 'Framework Agreement of 2015' that was signed between the group's general secretary Thuingalen Muivah and Central government's interlocutor R.N. Ravi, who is currently Governor of Nagaland, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While appealing for a positive and sincere solution, the NSCN-IM also clarified that any solution outside the purview of the 'Framework Agreement of 2015' will not be acceptable. The group further asserted that both the parties need to work out on the details of the framework and execute the same for its early implementation. '

''We call upon the Government of India to be more positive and sincere.

''We believe there is no human problem which cannot be resolved with human wisdom pregnant with mutual respect and equality as Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often quoted. We are for peace and progress,'' read the statement.

It needs to be mentioned here that recently, the Central Government in a written reply to the Parliament stated that the negotiations between both the parties are in an advance stage. However, it did not give any details of the negotiations, nor any timeframe to complete the dialogue. On the contrary, the Nagaland Governor cum Centre's interlocutor R.N. Ravi stated in the Assembly that the talks have been concluded, thereby creating confusion in the proceedings of the issue.

Earlier in March, the group also criticized Governor Ravi's statement, regarding the peace talks, and slammed him for creating ''unnecessary confusion'' with his ''statement'' in the Nagaland Assembly wherein he said that the Indo-Naga political talks have concluded.

It also claimed that the Indo-Naga political issue is back on the table with an effort to remove any misinterpretation and thereby hasten the signing of the Naga-solution agreement. (Agecnies)
