KOHIMA: The Nagaland Dobashi Association (NDBA) inaugurated its 22nd Triennial Conference and 63rd Anniversary on January 16, 2025, at P. Shilu Ao Park in Mokokchung town. The two-day event, held under the theme “Strengthening the Spirit of Naga Customary Laws and its Practices,” will conclude on January 17.

The opening session was graced as the Chief Host by Thsuvisie Phoji, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung. His speech traced the roots of the Dobashi institute to the period of the British and its legacy.

He also stressed that integrity and trustworthiness, along with being proficient in the language, had traditionally marked a Dobashi qualities he urged the current generation to maintain the values. Phoji also urged Dobashis to avoid divisive ideologies and remain steadfast in their roles as mediators and guardians of customary laws.

The session was chaired by Imolangba, District Head Dobashi of Mokokchung. NDBA President Vikheho Sema delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the relevance of the theme.

A brief address was also made by the president of the GB’s Association, Mokokchung. The event featured a cultural performance by the Kohima District Dobashis, who presented a traditional tune.

Earlier, Advisor for Food & Civil Supply and Legal Metrology, K.T Sukhalu, highlighted the significance of the Tsüngkamnyo Festival as a celebration of community and cultural heritage.

Speaking as the special guest on the second day of the Tsüngkamnyo-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival at Yimkhiung Heritage, Pungro, Kiphire district, Sukhalu emphasized the importance of unity among the Naga community.
