Dimapur: Various Naga youth organizations from Chümoukedima and Dimapur have strongly condemned the extortion demand made against a prominent Naga innovator and social entrepreneur. The individual, who has received numerous accolades at both the state and national levels, is also recognized for his pioneering efforts in exporting Naga handicrafts.

In a joint emergency meeting, the organizations called for the immediate handover of the two individuals responsible for the extortion attempt to the relevant authorities, urging the intervention of the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG)/Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB).

The organizations expressed disbelief that a Naga Political Group (NPG), whose motto is centered on “Nagaland for Christ,” would resort to such diabolical tactics, demanding Rs 50 lakh through false allegations during the festive season. They emphasized that this was a betrayal of Christian values.

The groups also highlighted the long-standing issue of excessive extortion by multiple NPGs, which has burdened the Naga people. They asserted that the future of Naga youth could not be allowed to suffer because of the selfish actions of a few individuals and groups. With growing unity among the Naga youth, they vowed to no longer remain passive observers.

The organizations declared that the collective anger of the Naga youth, particularly from the former undivided Dimapur, would now be channeled through democratic means to protect citizens’ rights at an appropriate time.

This statement was issued by key representatives, including Khrozote Kapfo, Idizeung Zeliang, and others from various youth and civic groups in the region.
