Nagaland Govt Issues Revised SOP for Opening of Schools

DIMAPUR: Nagaland Government on September 27 issued a new standard operating procedure (SOPs) permitting students to resume physical classes for students of classes 5 to 10 from October 1.

As per the new SOP, the government set a 50 per cent attendance limit as a precautionary step to avoid and contain the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of students, teachers and others.

Further, reopening is contingent on all teachers and non-teaching staff of the school being completely vaccinated against COVID-19, with the first dose taken at least 15 days before reopening or both doses.

If these immunisation requirements are not fulfilled, teachers and non-teaching employees will be asked to submit a negative COVID-19 test report every 15 days using RT-PCR, TrueNat or CBNAAT.

The school administration would also be obliged to ensure regular sanitization of school premises, adherence to social distancing rules in sitting arrangements and mandatory wearing masks.

Schools must also plan alternate day schedules for classes and make infrastructure available so that the 50 per cent attendance limit. It also encouraged schools to continue online or distance learning.

The schools would have to submit a list of teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as details of their vaccination or testing status, as applicable, and the arrangements they are making to ensure adherence to the new SOP's provisions to the respective District Task Force through the District Education Officer concerned and any violation of the SOP's provisions would be subject to legal action against the management of the school/institution.
