Nagaland Launches Solar Mission Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme, Announces State Subsidy

CM Neiphiu Rio said that the Nagaland government has taken a major step to address power deficits faced across the state by launching the solar mission.

KOHIMA: In a significant development, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio officially launched the Nagaland Solar Mission for the installation of residential Roof Top Solar (RTS) in convergence with the Prime Minister Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG:MBY) in the presence of Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs K. G. Kenye at the Chief Minister’s Office, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, on 14th April 2025. 

Addressing the launching program, CM Rio said that the Nagaland government has taken a major step to address power deficits faced across the state by launching the solar mission. Rio said that to further support the green energy revolution, the state government has decided to support this initiative through an additional state subsidy.

"Launched the Nagaland Solar Mission to boost residential rooftop solar adoption in convergence with #PMSuryaGharMuftBijliYojana. The state government will supplement the GoI subsidy by providing additional state subsidies. Total subsidy will range from 96% (up to 2 kW) to 85% (up to 3 kW)," CM Rio stated in his official handle X.

"An allocation of Rs. 10 crore has been made for the mission in the FY 2025–26. This marks a significant step towards advancing green energy, reducing electricity costs, and promoting environmental conservation. Nagaland is committed to building a sustainable & energy-efficient future," he further added.
