Nagaland: Local Youths Along With AR Personnels Hoist Flags Atop Mt. Saramati

KOHIMA : 17 youngsters from the state of Nagaland hoisted the tricolor flag, the Indian Army flag and the flag of Assam Rifles at the top of Mount Saramati, the highest peak of the state. 

They undertook the initiative of honour in the occasion of Army Day 2023. Amongst the 17 members, two college going girls were also included in the activity. Youths from different areas of the state came together and climbed the Mt Saramati on 15th of January, Sunday. 

The group began their expedition on 11th of January, and arrived at their destination on Saturday. Early morning on the Army Day, the enthusiasts hoisted our National Flag along with the flags of Indian Army and Assam Rifles.

The process started after the local youths approached the Indian Army with the idea, Assam Rifles local authorities under the Kohima headquarters North, accepted the request and a plan to conduct a joint expedition was formed.

The Spear Corps tweeted regarding the matter and expressed immense happiness. It mentioned that, youths joining hands with the oldest paramilitary force in the occasion of Army Day, is a delight to the sight. 'Saluting the grit, determination and patriotism of Nagaland youth', tweeted the Spear Corps.

The entire team comprised of 17 youths, 31 personnels of Assam Rifles, including two riflewomen of 38th Battalion Assam Rifles. The journey was initiated by Col Hem Chandra Singh along with Nippon Das, Jusasie Poji, Jitsiatho Nyumi, Thowiesie Kajairi, Visasie Poj, Kiitshiisue N Nyumi and few other team members.

As per sources, the expedition has facilitated in strengthening the bond between local youths and Assam Rifles along with demonstrating the of civil military partnership.

Army Day is celebrated in India every year on 15th of January, in recognition of Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa's taking over as the first Commander in Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Roy Bucher.
