KOHIMA: Nagaland's Tourism and Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along emphasized how the Hornbill Festival works as a platform for network and a showcase of diversity in cultures, traditions, and other artistic expressions, which makes it an invaluable platform that needs to be encouraged to create more connections and synergies.
During the launch of the Central Plaza Shopping Mall and Carnival on PR Hill, Kohima, the minister appealed that people think of positivity, not of negativity.
Minister Along clarified that the Hornbill Festival is not a festival for food, drink, and merrymaking but a platform to showcase the rich culture, arts, music, sports, organic produce, and innovative ideas of Nagaland to the world. He further clarified that the government can only give the platform, but the people must take up its growth and collaboration potential.
He also emphasized the state's efforts to connect with international and national partners, such as countries like the UK, USA, Peru, and Japan, and Indian states like Telangana and Sikkim. These partnerships would help in exchange in the areas of art, music, skills, and entrepreneurship, which would enable Nagaland to tap into global opportunities.
On the economic front, Minister Along cited the increasing Gross Domestic Product of over 11% and the fact that private contributions had led to this growth. He encouraged cooperation and support across sectors, urging people to appreciate and uplift one another regardless of their background.
The Minister has praised the transformation of Central Plaza into a multipurpose place, which is both serving as a parking solution as well as a hub of business and community activities.
He called upon stakeholders and young entrepreneurs to use the space for growth, networking, and promoting local products and talents. He, at the same time, urged them to stay committed, dream big, and get adapted to challenges.
Reflecting on the challenges of entrepreneurship, Minister Along lamented the lack of passion and patience among some individuals. He pointed out how businesses often fail because of a lack of sustained effort and understanding of the importance of consistency. He urged entrepreneurs to approach their ventures with resilience, determination, and a long-term perspective.
He concluded by telling entrepreneurs that true success means more than just making money-it is the satisfaction of establishing a meaningful and impactful business. True success, he said, is earned through dedication to earning a reputation for quality and reliability.
Keynotes during the event were presentations by Rhovelü Soho, proprietor of Rho. Lè Enterprise and beneficiary of the Women Leaders in Skill Development award, as well as Medozeu Rio, Chairman of Central Plaza Management Board. A song of appreciation by Nourhengunuo Zatsu and a vote of thanks by Khrietuo Yhome, Secretary Management Board, added to the merriment.
