Nagaland's Akumienla L. Imchen Clinches Bronze at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championship

DIMAPUR: Akumienla L. Imchen, a lance naik from the 15 IR Mahila battalion, grabbed a bronze medal at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships, held from November 28 to December 1 in Durban, South Africa.

This remarkable achievement made her the first individual from Nagaland to earn a medal at an international karate competition, bringing pride and honor to the state and the nation as well.

She is affiliated with the All Nagaland Karate-Do Association and trains under the guidance of Sensei Temsu Sangtam at the Logdrum Higher Secondary School Dojo in Sangtamtilla, Dimapur. 

Throughout her career, Imchen has consistently shown outstanding commitment and skill, as evidenced by her bronze medal win at the 8th South Asian Karate Championship, which took place at the Royal Institute of Management in Thimphu, Bhutan, from July 13 to 20 earlier this year.

The All Nagaland Karate-Do Association (ANKA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Akumienla L. Imchen for her outstanding accomplishment and acknowledged her role in elevating Nagaland’s presence on the global karate stage.

The association also expressed gratitude to her coach, Temsu Sangtam of Logdrum Karate Club, Sangtamtilla, Dimapur, for his invaluable guidance and support. ANKA President T. Sangtam received a special note of appreciation for his financial support, which significantly contributed to Imchen’s successful journey to South Africa.
