State level combined Ex-servicemen holds rally in Kohima; facilitates 615 Ex-service men of Army and Assam Rifles

Kohima: A State-level combined Ex-servicemen rally of Assam Rifles and Army was today held at Assam Rifles garrison, Kohima under the theme ‘Year of the Next of Kin and War Veterans’.

The rally was organized by Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) for veterans of all districts of Nagaland with an aim to reach out to Ex-servicemen (ESM), disabled soldiers, Veer Naris, Widows and Next of Kin for their welfare and resolve their grievances especially with respect to pension.

Major General of IGAR (North) PC Nair, Yudh Seva Medal, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion honoured and felicitated 615 ESM of Army and Assam Rifles from Nagaland.

A medical camp was also organized at the event to provide medical facilities to ESM. The veterans thronged the stalls set up by Assam Rifles in collaboration with the State Government Departments including Skill Development, Horticulture, Agriculture, Fishery and Kohima State Legal Services.

These stalls not only remedied their complaints but also provide information about finance and investment scheme and employment opportunities for them and their dependents. The Chief Guest also felicitated 37 disabled soldiers with wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks and stitching machines. All attendees were also gifted with blankets, shawls, caps, veteran badges and information pamphlets. Seven World War II Naga veterans were especially honoured.
