Neiphiu Rio, CM of Nagaland urges Nagas to build brotherhood & work towards harmony

GUWAHATI: Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland urged people in the region to shed their differences and work towards building peace in the region.

Strife which has extended for years has left the Nagas "underdeveloped," he said. Rio was addressing the 72nd general session of the United Sangtam Students’ conference at Seyochung village in Kiphire district.

Neiphiu Rio tweeted, "Attended the 72nd General Session of USSC at Seyochung Village, Kiphire #Nagaland Urged the students to work hard & achieve success. Education sets one free & knowledge gives power to act & follow the law. I hope the New Year foster brotherhood & harmony amongst the Naga brethren."

According to media reports, he insisted that Nagas must shed the tag of "backwardness" and embrace development.

He also spoke about the advent of Christianity in the region and how the faith had benefitted and transformed the life of Nagas.
