GANGTOK: On the 76th Republic Day, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Governor Om Prakash Mathur inaugurated a new computer class for children and staff at the Raj Bhavan.
This initiative is part of the “Sabai Padhao, Sabai Badhao” campaign, which focuses on improving education, skill development, and empowerment.
The Chief Minister also attended the "At Home" event at Raj Bhavan, where the rich cultural heritage of Sikkim was celebrated. The event featured cultural performances that honored the nation’s freedom fighters and martyrs, highlighting the themes of sacrifice and patriotism. The performances were meant to inspire unity and national pride.
The Chief Minister thanked the Governor for his continued efforts to promote progress in Sikkim, particularly in areas of education, creativity, and cultural unity.
Meanwhile, the Republic Day celebrations in Gangtok were held at Paljor Stadium, with Governor Om Prakash Mathur being welcomed by the Chief Minister and other officials. The ceremony began with the Governor hoisting the national flag, followed by the national anthem.
The Governor then reviewed the Republic Day parade, which included performances from various groups such as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, Sikkim Police, and NCC, among others.
In his speech, the Governor expressed pride in the nation’s democratic achievements and emphasized the sacrifices made by those who shaped India’s independence. He also highlighted the importance of unity, diversity, and progress in binding the country together.
