

LANG KHOLA: In a tragic road accident, five people who were on their way to attend a wedding lost their lives near Lang Khola on the Tashiding-Yuksom road in West Sikkim on January 17. As per inputs, the accident occurred when a 4-wheeler skidded off the road and fell into a gorge.
The victims, identified as Abhishek Dahal, Abhi Kishore Dahal, Chandra Bahadur Mangar, Karna Bahadur Gurung, and Jeewan Karki, were all residents of the Yuksom-Tashiding constituency.
Chief Minister PS Tamang expresseg his grief over the tragic event. In a social media post, he wrote, "Deeply saddened by the tragic accident near Lang Khola, Gerethang, in the Yuksom-Tashiding constituency, which claimed the lives of five individuals. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray to the Almighty for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace." Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
In another similar incident, a tragic road accident occurred in Tadong, Gangtok, on the morning of December 29, claiming the life of one person and leaving five others injured. The incident happened around 4:30 am when a Mahindra Bolero, traveling from Ranipool to Gangtok, reportedly lost control and crashed into a parked truck on the roadside.
