GANGTOK: A major fire erupted in the Sisa Golai area of Gangtok around noon on Monday, destroying a house. The flames spread rapidly, but the quick actions of the fire brigade helped prevent additional damage. At around 12:00 PM, the eyewitnesses reported that the fire began rapidly and consumed the house. Firefighters soon reached the scene and managed the flames before it spread to the nearby buildings.

There were no cases of casualties reported. Sikkim Police’s Director General of Police (DGP), Akshay Sachdeva, confirmed that local police from Sadar Police Station and fire department personnel responded promptly. Investigations suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a cylinder blast.

Traffic units were deployed to divert vehicles, ensuring clear access for emergency responders. DGP Sachdeva remarked that the police, with assistance from local residents, swiftly removed nearby gas cylinders to mitigate further risks. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, yesterday, A JCB and another car parked next to a construction site in Dhananjoy Nagar's Shyamali Bazar neighbourhood, which is part of Hrishyamukh Block, were completely destroyed on Friday night.

As soon as the fire was reported, firefighters raced to the scene and put out the flames, but by then, both vehicles had been completely wrecked. Police believe there was some sabotage involved in the isolated location's fire, which had no apparent cause.
