Sikkim's Award-Winning Teachers Embark On Educational Tour To Tamil Nadu And Kerala

GANGTOK: Sikkim Education Minister Raju Basnet has officially flagged off the 11-day education exposure tour for thirty-six State and Commendation Awardee Teachers of the state at the SNT Complex on January 20.

The teachers will be given exposure to teaching practices of Tamil Nadu and Kerala with a goal to improve their professional skills in the educational tour organized by the Education Department of Sikkim.

Before the trip commenced, Basnet addressed the teachers and wished them a successful journey. He also stated that he was confident that this trip would be fruitful in the improvement of the education system of the state, highlighting the government's efforts of enhancing the knowledge and skill of the teachers.

Together with their spouses, the teachers will travel to Tamil Nadu and Kerala to visit both rural and urban schools. While there, they will observe different teaching approaches, exchange ideas, and gain knowledge of local educational and cultural practices.

The first edition of this program was introduced in September 2022 on Teachers' Day by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang. It is to be mentioned that while State and Commendation awardees are sent to national educational tours, those who win a National Award are sent on international tours.

Sonam Denzongpa, the principal director of school education, Tashi Chophel, the secretary of school education, Tsheringkee Chingapa, the director of school education and planning, and other top members of the education department attended the flag-off event.
