11 Tablighi Jamaat attendees found in Tripura masjid

Agartala: With the Nizamuddin incident creating a storm across the country, Tripura Police on Wednesday detected 11 persons who attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation, in a masjid at Jogendra Nagar area and brought all of them to a temporarily built “Institutional Quarantine” at the Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel here.

Manik Das, Superintendent of Police (West) said the matter came to the notice of the local people immediately after the Nizamuddin incident came to the fore and informed the police. Immediately, the police went there and brought them to the quarantine zone. It is learned that these Tablighis were staying in the masjid since March 11. They will be kept under observation.

Meanwhile, it is learned that 22 Tablighis from Tripura, among the few hundreds who were staying in Nizamuddin at Delhi, has returned to the State. The Tripura police have already detected 15 of them and none of them have shown any symptoms of the virus and have been kept in-home quarantine. The police are still searching for 11 others.
