Agartala: Amid tension over recent violent incidents following the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act, the demand for deployment of security force and setting up of permanent police force in increasing in different parts of Tripura especially in the mixed-populated areas.

Demands for setting up of permanent security camps are coming from Kanchanpur where the Reang refugees are located It has been alleged that in the name of protest against CAA, the refugees attacked several localities in Dasda and adjoining areas rendering a large number of people homeless.

The people observed six-day strike to protest against such violence and returned home only after getting assurance from the administration about proper security arrangement and compensation for their damaged properties.

Similar attack was conducted in Ananda Bazar areas of the Panisagar sub-division where a good number of people are still residing in camps near the police station. They on Tuesday submitted a memorandum when Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was visiting the camp. They also demanded setting up of permanent security posts and compensation.

Similar demand also was raised by the people when the Chief Minister visited Ompi and Taidu areas. There are police stations and several camps of CRPF and TSR but considering the vulnerability of the area these are not enough.
