Customs inspector Aditya Pratap attacked in Tripura; accused held

Agartala: Customs inspector Aditya Pratap Sign narrowly escaped an attack inside his office at Srimantapur Integrated checkpost in Somnamura sub-division in Tripura due to timely intervention of his colleagues.

The attacker –Abu Salem, who recently got released after spending one year in jail, entered the office with a sword and tried to hit Aditya before anybody could gauge anything. However, Aditya was able to dodge the attacker and thereafter his colleagues rushed and overpowered Salem.

The incident took place at around 9.30 in the morning when Aditya was busy in dealing with the Indian and Bangladeshi passengers crossing the border.

Later Abu Salem was handed over to Somanura police and a case has been registered against him.

Salem was in jail for nearly one year in connection with possessing a weapon, a magazine and some live cartridges. Salem was heard shouting that he had to be in jail due to some faulty evidence provided by Aditya and was demanding Rs 50,000 as compensation.
