Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma urged to use space technology in government projects

Agartala: Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Debbarma urged all the government departments to use space technology to ensure that the benefits of all the government programmes and projects reach to the last person of the society. He was inaugurating a seminar on “Promoting Space Technology-Based Tools and Applications in Governance and Development”.

Senior scientist of ISRO Dr John Mathew also addressed the seminar jointly organized by the Science and Technology Board of Tripura and the North-Eastern Space Application Centre. PLN Raju, director of NESAC, also apprised the audience about the activities going on in the region for the promotion of space technology.

The Deputy Chief Minister said some of the government departments are utilizing the space services and told all the government officials to understand the necessity of the space technology as in the coming days, keeping latest and scientific data will become imperative to execute government projects.

He identified four pillars for developments – social and economic security, long-term development plan, efficient administration and disaster management. He said all these targets can be achieved only if we are equipped with the latest information and data.

He also stressed on maintaining the forest lands of the State as it is one of the pre-condition to maintain a good environment.
