Agartala: The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday announced a 19 member Tripura state steering committee where Subal Bhoumik who changed party seven times were selected as state convenor of TMC.

TMC Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader Sushmita Dev has been placed under Subal Bhowmik, which has raised several questions on the decision of the leadership.

Dev who has been a national president of the Mahila Congress had recently switched to TMC and was given the responsibility to work in Tripura.

However, the TMC's has decided to appoint Subal Bhowmik as the state convenor for the steering committee and this might have its own consequences.

"The All India Trinamool Congress under the inspiration and guidance of Hon'ble Chairperson Smt. Mamata Banerjee is pleased to announce the Tripura Trinamool Congress State Steering Committee and the State Youth Committee. We wish the very best to all the appointees for their future endeavors," the official statement reads.

The party in its state youth committee has appointed Baptu Chakraborty who was general secretary of Congress was selected as State Youth Convener of TMC.

After Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's thumping victory from Bhabanipur, the BJP's West Bengal unit is expecting more of its MLA and leaders in the state to join the ruling Trinamool Congress. Following declaration of the West Bengal Assembly polls results on May 2, several saffron party MLAs, including then national Vice President Mukul Roy, have switched over to the Trinamool. A senior party leader said that in the last five months, five BJP MLAs have left the party to join the Trinamool and after Sunday's results - where Banerjee defeated her BJP rival Priyanka Tibrewal by a record margin of 58,832 votes, as against 54,213 victory margin she secured in 2011, they are expecting some more sitting legislators and leaders to join the ruling party.
