AGARTALA: The Tripura government has approved an additional ₹13 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, bringing the total flood relief allocation to ₹25 crore. This enhanced funding aims to expedite recovery and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by the catastrophic August 2024 floods.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that the funds will be managed by the Revenue Department (Disaster Management). "An additional ₹13 crore has been sanctioned to address the damages caused by the August floods. These resources will aid affected regions and provide essential assistance to those in need," Dr. Saha shared via social media.
August 2024 floods damaged most of the districts of Tripura. Families were forced to shift and the lifestyle of people was affected day-to-day. The state government took urgent steps in food, medical, and temporary shelter arrangements for the victims immediately after the event.
The newly sanctioned funds will be on rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure, reconstruction of homes, and reviving livelihoods affected by the disaster," officials confirmed. "The Revenue Department will also monitor the disbursement of funds and see that the projects on recovery are undertaken in a more efficient manner."
The flood-affected people of the region have been positive about the new aid and expect quicker rehabilitation of the infrastructure and more support for the victims who have lost their houses and means of livelihood.
This increase in funds clearly shows that the Tripura government is serious about the impact of natural disasters and is focusing on the welfare of its citizens at such times.
