AGARTALA: The Tripura government has approved the recruitment of 1,867 new employees across various sectors, including teaching and engineering, to address critical workforce shortages.

The announcement was made by Cabinet Spokesperson and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during a press conference held on Friday afternoon at the Secretariat in Agartala.

Following a cabinet meeting on Thursday, the Tripura government has announced the recruitment of 1,566 teachers through the Teachers’ Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT) to address the teacher shortage in schools.

This includes 1,099 undergraduate and 467 graduate teacher positions, as stated by Cabinet Spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury during a press conference in Agartala.

Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the recruitment of 112 special educators for 125 Vidyajyoti schools as part of the state’s inclusive education program. These educators will play a key role in supporting students with disabilities, ensuring they have access to quality education.

The recruitment initiative also includes 151 positions in the jail department, comprising 137 male and 40 female staff members, to strengthen the department's operations.

Furthermore, the Rural Development Department will recruit 198 junior engineers (105 with degrees and 93 with diplomas) through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) to support ongoing infrastructure development projects.

Minister Chowdhury emphasized that these recruitment decisions reflect the state government’s commitment to improving public services and meeting the evolving needs of the community.
