
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, on Sunday, emphasized Tripura's remarkable progress in healthcare and education at an event held at Mailuma School ground in Mandvi Mandal.
CM Saha highlighted the state's achievements in medical services, such as the successful introduction of free kidney transplants, and announced plans to soon launch bone marrow and liver transplant facilities.
Saha discussed the expansion of medical education, stating that around 400 doctors graduate each year from the state’s medical colleges. He also revealed that Tripura Medical College, which currently has 100 seats, has requested an additional 50 seats to address the growing demand for medical professionals.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the introduction of super-speciality services through a Rs 250 crore investment. Additionally, the state has set aside land for new hospitals, estimated to cost Rs 700 crore, with the goal of reducing reliance on other states for advanced medical care. Leading companies have already engaged in pre-auction processes to guarantee the creation of top-tier healthcare facilities.
CM Saha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Act East Policy for driving Tripura’s development. He also highlighted the successful hosting of the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council in Tripura, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as a testament to the state's increasing prominence.
In addition to healthcare, Saha highlighted welfare initiatives, pointing out the rise in self-help groups from 4,000 to 56,000 and the transparent allocation of over 13,000 government jobs since his administration took office.
The Chief Minister concluded by meeting with local Janajati Samajpatis, listening to their concerns and feedback, and reaffirming his government’s dedication to addressing the needs of all communities in Tripura.
