
AGARTALA: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled an ambitious infrastructure development plan, with a significant budget allocation of around Rs. 7,000 crore, aimed at transforming the state's growth and development.
The extensive plan covers key sectors such as communication, education, healthcare, and sports infrastructure, marking a major step towards modernization. Central to this initiative is the development of three satellite towns in Agartala, Dharmanagar, and Udaipur.
At the foundation-stone laying ceremony at Ramesh English Medium Higher Secondary School in Udaipur, CM Saha emphasized the government's dedication to infrastructure development.
He stated, "The state government has allocated about Rs. 7,000 crore in the budget for infrastructure development."
Healthcare has become a primary focus, with the state already setting up advanced medical facilities, including super-specialty services at Agartala Government Medical College, a dental college, and kidney transplant capabilities. Additionally, plans are in progress to introduce liver transplant services at GB Hospital.
"Super specialty services are now being provided at Agartala Government Medical College. The state has already established a dental college. Kidney transplants are now being performed in the state. Initiatives have also been taken to conduct liver transplants at GB Hospital in the coming days," Saha added.
Several major infrastructure projects totaling over Rs. 147 crore were launched, including the Udaipur Municipal Council building, shopping mall, and auditorium (Rs 44 crore); Vigyan Bhavan at Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya (Rs 40 crore); a 200-bed youth hostel (Rs 16.25 crore); and the District Magistrate's office building (Rs 24.20 crore).
The Chief Minister highlighted the wider social impact of these developments, especially in sports and education. "Sports can protect the youth from the clutches of addiction," he stated, emphasizing the government's holistic approach to youth development.
