AGARTALA: The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) has announced plans to install solar micro-grids in 274 villages, focusing on areas where traditional power supply is economically and logistically challenging for both consumers and the state electricity corporation.
Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, outlining the Tripura Energy Vision 2030 Roadmap on Thursday, revealed that the government aims to generate at least 135 MW of solar energy by next year. This initiative seeks to meet the growing demand for clean and renewable energy in the state.
As part of its renewable energy drive, the state government has signed an agreement with NTPC to establish a 130 MW floating solar power plant on Dombur Lake, a prominent water body in the Dhalai district.
In a recent meeting with the Zilla Sabhadhipati of all eight districts to finalize the roadmap for the upcoming financial year, Nath reviewed the progress of ongoing projects under TREDA, including the PM Surya Ghar, PM De-VINE, and PM KUSUM schemes.
PM KUSUM provides solar-powered pumps to farmers, while PM Surya Ghar Yojana has designed to install solar grids in private and public establishments, and through the PM De-VINE scheme solar microgrids are installed for distant and obscure villages where conventional power supply is expensive.
Previously, the state government set a target to install solar grids in all government offices, including directorates, district headquarters, and major institutions across Tripura.
