AGARTALA: In a landmark boost to its economic scenario, Tripura has signed 87 memorandum of understandings (MoUs) amounting to ₹3,683 crore as part of the 'Destination Tripura: Business Conclave-2025'. The state government made this announcement, which marks a turning point in investment in the region.

Chief Minister Manik Saha at the conclave urged investors to tap into Tripura's extensive industrial opportunities despite the state's small size. The state abounds in natural resources such as natural gas, tea, rubber, bamboo, and agar which are feasible options for industrial projects on a large scale. Tripura has more than 2,000 hectares of agar plantations in non-forest areas and produces more than 1 lakh metric tonnes of raw rubber every year.

Saha also spoke about the infrastructure development work going on in Sabroom, which is going to be a major trade hub. He mentioned the Maitri Setu bridge that will connect Sabroom to Ramgarh in Bangladesh, reducing the distance to Chittagong port to just 72 km. This strategic location places Tripura as a gateway to Southeast Asia. Moreover, the newly planned Special Economic Zone in Sabroom and also the almost finalized Indo-Bangladesh railway further enhance the prospects of industrial activity in the area.

Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha hailed the success of the conclave saying that the MoUs signed there reflect growing investor confidence in Tripura's economic trajectory. He again reiterated the government's vision of achieving a 'Viksit Tripura' by 2047 through focused industrial growth.
