AGARTALA: A human skeleton was discovered early Tuesday morning in the dense forest of Ward No. 3, Kherengjuri, under Laxminagar Gram Panchayat, Churaibari police station, North Tripura district. The discovery was initially made on Monday afternoon by local resident Archana Nath, who came across the skeletal remains while collecting firewood.
Archana Nath reported seeing the skeleton but was not taken seriously at first. She later informed her family, but it wasn’t until the following morning that Gunendra Nath, a local resident, decided to investigate the claim. Upon reaching the forest, he found the skeletal remains on the ground, with the neck bone hanging from a tree. Shoes were also found at the scene.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes. I rushed back to inform the community, and we immediately contacted the police,” Gunendra Nath stated.
The Churaibari police responded quickly and arrived at the scene to begin an investigation into the origin of the skeleton. One of the primary leads points to Ranu Nath, a local woman who went missing on May 16, 2022. Ranu Nath, who lived with her uncle in Kherengjuri, had not been seen since that day.
“We are looking into all possible angles and verifying the identity of the remains. Our investigation is ongoing to uncover the truth behind this unsettling find,” an officer from Churaibari police station said.
The investigation has left the local community anxious, as they await answers regarding the identity of the remains. The discovery also raises questions about other unresolved cases in the area, heightening concerns in the region.
Residents of Kherengjuri are now hoping that the police can provide clarity and justice through their ongoing investigation.
