AGARTALA: Tensions have increased along the India-Bangladesh border after the recovery of a suspected drone from a paddy field near Ballamukha in South Tripura district's Belonia subdivision. The drone was recovered mere 300 meters from the international barbed-wire fence, sparking fears of a national security breach.

The villagers initially noticed the unmanned aerial vehicle in the morning on Monday, and this created mass panic in the village. The villagers, fearing the unusual occurrence, directly complained to the authorities. A villager, who did not wish to be identified, explained their terror, stating, "We have never seen anything like this before, it looked like a drone, and we were afraid that it could be dangerous."

The Tripura Police acted quickly, dispatching a team to the scene within minutes. They barricaded the place and retrieved the drone, which has been sent for forensic analysis. One of the top police officials confirmed the recovery, stating that although the source of the drone is yet to be established, preliminary analysis indicates that it might have crossed from Bangladesh into Indian territory.

Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the drone's purpose and origin, with security officials considering the possibilities of smuggling or espionage.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has been alerted and is working with local police to track the flight route of the drone and ascertain whether or not it had crossed Indian airspace. The incident highlights growing fears over the use of drones in cross-border operations between the two countries.
