AGARTALA: In a move to boost the road communication system in Tripura, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday, January 14, announced that the state government would soon send Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of two proposed national highways to the central government, which have been approved in principle.

Speaking on the second day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, Dr. Saha said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has, in principle, agreed to build 4 national highways for the state.

“All these roads are important. The highways are Kamalpur to Santirbazar, with a length of 148 km; Champaknagar to Udaipur, with a length of 40 km; Amarpur to Udaipur, with a length of 24 km; and Santirbazar to Belonia, with a length of 17.25 km,” he said.

“Whenever we attend meetings in Delhi, we raise this issue. However, the central government has asked us to send the DPRs of two roads as soon as possible. The DPR for Kamalpur to Santirbazar, with a length of 148 km, is being prepared, and the DPR for Amarpur to Udaipur, with a length of 24 km, will be completed soon. We will send these to the central government. I hope the central government will approve them. Our double-engine government is giving us everything one by one, and in the coming days, these will also be approved,” he added.
