Gambling Den busted in Biswanath, 10 Arrested

In a major successful operation, Biswanath police under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan busted a gambling den at bottle factory in Borkura area on Wednesday night.

At least 10 gamblers were arrested during the operation. Police also recovered a cash Rs 1 lakh, 144 pieces of tokens used during the betting along with 108 cards (Tash Patti) on the spot. Police also seized a Hyundai Verna car bearing registration number AS 12 K-2811, one Honda City car bearing registration number AS 01ED-1036, one Maruti Swift Dezire bearing registration number AS 01 BQ- 9715 along with three motor cycles from their possession.

The arrested gamblers were identified as Ratul Bora, Ajodha Gupta, Salaam Ali, Bhagawanth Boro (Gauhati University Zoology Department Specimen collector), Dipen Bora (Assam Gramin Bank, Peon), Monoj Shah, Abdul Halim, Kudrat Ali, Halim Uddin and Rashid Khan.
