GUWAHATI: 91 Yards Club secured their second victory in the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge Cricket, defeating Bud Cricket Club by 5 wickets at Judges Field today. In the day’s second match, Navajyoti Club also claimed victory, defeating City Cricket Club by the same margin.
The opening match between 91 Yards Club and Bud was reduced to 13 overs due to rain. Bud, invited to bat, posted a total of 75-5 in their allotted 13 overs. Swarupam Purkayastha top-scored with a knock of 41 (4 fours, 2 sixes), while Prateek Gurung contributed 24. Dipjyoti Saikia and Akshay Kumar Deka each claimed two wickets.
In reply, 91 Yards Club chased down the target with 11.5 overs, thanks to an unbeaten knock of 29 from Parvez Musaraf off 22 balls. Avhilash Gogoi starred with the ball, bagging 2 wickets for just 7 runs.
In the second match, City Cricket Club, opting to bat first, was dismissed for 110 in 20 overs. Saurav Dey (37) and Debajit Baruah (23) were the standout batters. Harshit Pratim Das’s impressive bowling (3-25) helped Navajyoti Club dominate, with Bhargab P Lahkar and Dharani Rabha taking two wickets each.
Navajyoti Club completed the chase in the final over, losing 5 wickets along the way. Bhargab P Lahkar played a pivotal role, scoring 64 off 56 balls, including 5 boundaries and 2 sixes. Rituraj Biswas provided valuable support with 23 runs. Saurav Dey also made a strong contribution with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs.
