Assam: Bud Cricket Club Lift Title, Beat City Cricket Club in Final

GUWAHATI: Bud Cricket Club emerged as the champion of the 7th Assam Premier Club Cricket Championship (Guwahati leg), defeating City Cricket Club by four wickets in the final held at Nehru Stadium today. Chasing a target of 124, Bud Cricket Club reached the mark in 26.5 overs, losing six wickets. Swarupam Purkayastha played a crucial knock of 43 runs off 53 balls, hitting three boundaries and a six to guide his team to victory. He received good support from SK Jnyanam (27) and Erik Roy (21). Sidharth Sarmah and Romario Sharmah claimed two wickets each for City Cricket Club.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, City Cricket Club was bowled out for 123 in 38.1 overs. Nihal Baishya (34) was the top scorer, while Hiyan Kashyap contributed 30 runs. Rohit Singh delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 3/21 in his 7.1 overs spell. Swarupam Purkayastha and Priyangshu Khole picked up two wickets each.

With this victory, Bud Cricket Club qualified for the zonal round.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Gaurav Kumar, Accountant General (A&E), as the Chief Guest, Tanmay Jyoti Mahanta, Senior Advocate of Gauhati High Court and Treasurer of the Veteran Cricket Association of Assam, as the Guest of Honour. Paresh Chandra Das, President of GSA, was also in attendance.

Individual Awards-Best Batter: Hiyan Kashyap (City Cricket). Best Bowler: Priyangshu Khole (Bud). Man of the Series: Hiyan Kashyap (City Cricket). Man of the Final: Swarupam Purkayastha.
