GUWAHATI: Assam’s international tour of Namibia got off to a tough start as they were beaten by FNB Eagles by six wickets in their opener in Windhoek on Saturday

Batting first, Assam posted 232 runs before being bowled out in the 49.4 overs. The most notable performance came from Saahil Jain, who struck a well-compiled 54. He played the knock in 58 balls, peppering the field with six boundaries and a six. Other key contributors were Bhargab Lahkar (31 from 55 balls, including three fours), Rishav Das (29 off 28 balls with three fours and a six), and Sumit Ghadigaonkar (24, with three fours) in a challenging batting effort.

In reply, the FNB Eagles chased down the total comfortably, reaching 233/4 in 46.5 overs. Myburgh anchored the innings with an unbeaten 88, while Loftie Eaton Nicol added 58 and Frylinck Jan chipped in with 51. On the bowling front for Assam, four bowlers grabbed a wicket each — Akash Sengupta, Bhargab Pratim Lahkar, Sibsankar Roy, and Mrinmoy Dutta — but it wasn’t enough to halt the chase.

This match marked the first of a five-match unofficial One Day series between Assam and Namibia’s domestic team, played at the FNB Cricket Ground in Windhoek from June 21 to June 29.
