GUWAHATI: All Assam Taekwondo Association will send a 15-member strong squad for the 37th National Games. The team will fly to Goa on Sunday to participate in their respective events which will begin on October 31. Assam will take part in both kyorugi and poomsae categories.
The secretary of the All Assam Taekwondo Association Hiranya Saikia sounds optimistic about the team’s performance in the Games. “Assam made the best performance in the National Games in 1994 where we won nine medals. I feel this time we are capable of repeating the performance as we are sending a very strong team in the competition,” said Saikia.
Assam team for the National Games: Kyorugi: Nirman Rupam Kashyap, Sansuma Narzary, Akash Tyagi, Aastha Rani Khanikar, Bonsikha Baruah and Monika Baruah. Poomsae: Ravi Choudhury, Erin Nobis, Anushka P Gogoi, Pritam Kishore Borah, Rishab Choudhury, Devdas Roy, Mahasweta Kashyap, Akanshya P Gogoi and Shewta Sharma.
