Kolkata: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is in a stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital on Saturday once the results of the medical examinations to be conducted on him return normal, an official of the hospital where he is being treated said.

"Ganguly's health condition is stable. He slept well on Friday night and had light food in the morning," the official told PTI.

Doctors are scheduled to conduct a few medical examinations on the 48-year-old former India captain to decide whether he is fit to be discharged from the hospital, he said.

On Thursday, the former Indian captain Ganguly had undergone a fresh angioplasty and two more stents were implanted to clear his clogged coronary arteries.

He was hospitalised on January 27th for the second time in a month due to his cardiac condition.

He was taken to Apollo Hospital in Kolkata.

"Sourav Ganguly, 48, has come for a checkup of his cardiac condition. There is no change in his parameteres since his last hospitalisation and his vital parameters are stable," read a statement from the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital in Kolkata.

The former India captain Sourav Ganguly suffered from a mild cardiac arrest earlier this month on January 2. He was diagnosed with Triple Vessel Disease. He had undergone an angioplasty during which a stent was inserted to clear a blocked artery.

Ganguly had suffered a mild cardiac arrest during a workout session at his residence. He was taken to the Woodlands Hospital where he underwent angioplasty.

He was discharged from Woodlands Hospital on January 7.

Sourav Ganguly retired from Test cricket in 2008 with a tally of 7,212 runs including 16 centuries. He also scored 11,363 runs in 311 one-day internationals.

He was elected as the 39th BCCI President in October 2019 after a unanimous election.
