SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong FC secured their second consecutive win in the Durand Cup Football, defeating Rangdajied FC 3–1 in a Group E clash at the Nehru Stadium in Shillong on Tuesday. In what was a closely contested Shillong Derby, both sides battled for early control. Lajong broke the deadlock just before halftime, with Everbrighton Sana finding the net to give his team a 1–0 lead at the lemon break.

Rangdajied fought back after the interval and equalized in the 58th minute when Meban Kurkalang scored with a well-timed header.

However, Lajong responded strongly. Damait Lyngdoh restored the lead in the 66th minute, and Gladdy Kharbuli sealed the victory in the 80th minute by capitalizing on a free kick opportunity. This win marks Lajong's second in as many matches in the tournament. They had earlier thrashed Malaysian Armed Forces 6–0 in their opening game. With six points from two games, Shillong Lajong sit comfortably at the top of the Group E standings. (Agencies)
