GUWAHATI: Gauhati Town Club (GTC) pulled off a thrilling one-run victory over City Cricket Club in a nail-biting encounter at the Judges Field in the GTC Men’s Spring T20 Cup on Tuesday.

Batting first, GTC posted a competitive total of 180 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Avinav Choudhry top-scored with a steady 42, while Sumit Ghadigaonkar (34), Abdil Aziz (31), and Bishal Sarma (27) made valuable contributions. For City Cricket Club, Tarjinder Singh was the pick of the bowlers with impressive figures of 3 for 24.

In response, City Cricket Club fought hard with blistering knocks from Sanjay Kumar Singh (53 off just 23 balls, 5 fours and 4 sixes), Ankush Mazumder (52 off 33 balls, 4 fours and 3 sixes), and Tarjinder Singh (44). However, despite their valiant efforts, City fell just one run short, finishing at 179-8 in 20 overs. Gokul Sarma’s economical spell of 2 for 18 proved crucial in the tense finish.

 In the day’s second match at the same venue, Guwahati Giants registered a thumping 126-run win over Navarang Club. Guwahati Giants set a formidable total of 197 for 9 in 20 overs, thanks to a solid batting performance from Anurag Talukdar (45), Ronit Akhter (41), Rajakuddin Ahmed (39), and Shraban Khound (33). Bikiran Das stood out for Navarang with figures of 3 for 24.

Navarang Club’s chase faltered early and they were bowled out for just 71 runs in 14.1 overs. Ronit Akhter shone with the ball as well, picking up 4 for 11, while Arpan Dutta chipped in with 3 for 19 to seal the emphatic win.
