GUWAHATI: Bud Cricket Club edged past Guwahati Giants by ACA rules in a rain affected match in the GTC Men’s Spring T20 Cup at the Judges Field here today.
Guwahati Giants were bowled out for just 89 in 18.1 overs. Rajjakuddin Ahmed and Anurag Talukdar were the joint top-scorers with 24 runs each. Bud CC bowlers kept a tight line, with Pradip Sarkar (2/9) and Rohit Singh (2/11) were the most economical.
In response, Bud CC made a steady start with Bikash Kumar Das scoring 38 and Kaushik Giri adding 21. However, rain interrupted play and later as per ACA regulations, the result was decided using standard rain rules. Arpan Dutta was the pick of the bowlers for Guwahati Giants, claiming 2/18.
Meanwhile in the other game, Navajyoti Club cruised to a 10-wicket victory over Navarang Club in a five-over contest, shortened due to persistent rain.
Batting first, Navarang Club managed 49/4 in their allotted 5 overs, with Asif Wasimul Haque top-scoring with 18. Despite losing early wickets, they posted a competitive total for the shortened format.
Navajyoti made light work of the chase, reaching 50 without loss in just 2.5 overs. Hrishikesh Tamuly led the charge with an unbeaten 26 (11balls) , while Bhargab Lahkar contributed a rapid 21(6 balls), sealing a dominant win for their side.
