Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama lifted the Men's Singles title at the French Open as he beat Taiwanese badminton ace Chou Tien-chen 15-21, 21- 8, 21-17 in one hour and 13 minutes in the final at Stade Pierre de Coubertin on Sunday.

PARIS: Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama lifted the Men's Singles title at the French Open as he beat Taiwanese badminton ace Chou Tien-chen 15-21, 21- 8, 21-17 in one hour and 13 minutes in the final at Stade Pierre de Coubertin on Sunday.

It was second win out of seven of the 25-year-old World No. 13 Tsuneyama against the fourth-seeded and World No. 4 Chou.

The French Open is Tsuneyama's biggest ever title win, after triumphing over two-time Olympic gold medal winner Lin Dan of China in the men's singles final in the BWF Super 300 Korea Masters 2019 at Gwangju Women's University Stadium.

Top seed Akane Yamaguchi won the Women's Singles title as she thrashed Sayaka Takahash 21-18, 21-12 in the an all-Japanese final. Earlier, she beat South Korea's An Se-young while Sayaka Pusarla Venkata Sindhu in the semifinals.

In Men's Doubles final, South Korea's Ko Sung-Hyun and Shing Baek-cheol beat top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo 21-17, 22-20.

Top seeds Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan overcame Kim So-yeong and Kong Hee-yong 21-17, 21-12 in the all-South Korean Women's Doubles final.

Japan's Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino won the Mixed Doubles title. They defeated Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje of Denmark 21-8, 21-17 in the title clash. Agencies
