GUWAHATI: 22 Yards Glory kicked off their campaign in style at the inaugural RP Barooah Memorial Masters T20 Cricket Tournament, defeating DBCC 93 by 26 runs at the NFRSA Stadium, Maligaon, on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, 22 Yards Glory posted a competitive total of 161 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Pranjal Kalita led the charge with an impressive knock of 43, which included nine boundaries.

In response, DBCC 93 managed 135 for 8 in their 20 overs. Despite fighting knocks from Niranjan Kalita and Sanju Sinha, both of them scored 30 runs each, the team fell short by 26 runs.

Earlier in the day, the tournament was inaugurated with a brief ceremony. Mithoo Barooah, daughter of RP Barooah and Parag Das, a former first-class cricketer and son-in-law of RP Barooah, graced the occasion along with others.
