GUWAHATI: Assam lost to Vidarbha by 8 wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Cricket at Visakhapatnam on Friday. It was the first defeat for Assam in the competition this season.
Invited to bat, Assam were bowled out 123 in 19.1 overs. Vidarbha chased the target in just 14 overs.
Assam were under pressure in the very early part of the innings as they lost both the openers putting 8 runs on the board.
Captain Denish Das tried to repair the damage but he didn’t get too much support from the other end. Denish scored 31 with the help of four boundaries and one six. Sibsankar Roy (22) and Saahil Jain (20) were the other major contributors.
Among the bowlers of Vidarbha, Dipesh Parwani (3-23) was the most successful bowler, Yash Thakur and Parth Rekhade bagged two wickets each.
Vidarbha took 14 overs to win the game losing two wickets. While opener Karun Nair (75) was the top scorer in the innings, Mandar Mahale remained not out on 31.
Mukhtar Hussain and Avinov Choudhury bagged one wicket each.
